Anxiety Disorders

therapy for anxiety.jpg

Amadew has a great background of treatments and understanding for helping people with anxiety address the source of their fears and she will develop a treatment plan specific to you, with you. In many cases, it is possible to completely treat the condition. She often uses EMDR (See blog for videos of people describing), as it is highly effective & efficient to remove that trauma that created it, as well as the undesired experience of the trauma responses.

Do You Suffer from Anxiety?

Has your life become consumed with worries and dread of what is going to happen in certain situations?

Does your body betray you, or has started to have an affect on your ability to function well?

Are you consumed with hiding certain symptoms of fear/anxiety?

Do you always feel as if something catastrophic is going to happen?

Do you use avoidance behaviours so you do not have to feel certain symptoms? Or the consequences of those symptoms? Or tolerate this with great will power that others probably wouldn't understand?

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

It is more severe as it develops and can be very similar to PTSD, but without nightmares or an acute event.

PTSD can develop in a person after they are exposed to an event that either threatened to or caused physical or mental harm, such as bullying, military combat, child-birth, violent/sexual assault, or a robbery. It can also be complex, through an accumulation of traumas.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD used to be an anxiety disorder, but is now on it's own; characterized by obsessive thoughts, such as the fear of hurting someone (often moral), and/or the associated repetitive behaviours or compulsions, such as hand washing, acts that are to undo the feared event. It no longer belongs in this category, though it often involves moderate and severe anxiety.

Phobias (Specific Fears)

Phobias are characterized by the severe, though seems irrational to others, fear of a thing, place, person or event. Examples of phobias is the fears of eating in public, shaking hands, or performing an act. Needle phobia treatments have been needed lately!

Experiencing intense fear responses that interfere with your ability to function in certain situations is often when a problem becomes clinical and in need of attention. Like a disease, these things can get worse if left untreated, and also accumulate other problems.

Adults and mature teens are welcome. Amadew provides a compassionate, accepting, and healing environment.
